It is with some sadness that we report that GHIAA Organizer, Cesar Aleman, is moving on from CLJ.  However, we ask that you join us in celebrating the great opportunity awaiting Cesar.  In Cesar’s own words:

Dear friends,

I write to let you know I am leaving GHIAA at the end of the legislative session to be the new Director of the CT Urban Opportunity Collaborative. I am immensely proud of the work we are doing, the power we have built, and the relationships I have made here. Organizing at GHIAA has been everything I thought it’d be, at times really hard but always invigorating and full of joy, just like all good organizing should be. I will work with our team to ensure that a smooth transition takes place.

As you know, I am deeply motivated by our ability to create meaningful social change and this new opportunity has incredible promise. In this role, I will be working with The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, and the Fairfield County Community Foundation to develop collective strategies to dismantle structural racism and advance social and economic mobility in Black and Brown communities. This cohort will, for the first time, align the goals, strategies, and outcome measures of each foundation to demonstrate the aggregate impact of their giving in urban communities. It is an opportunity to organize people and money, and I can’t wait to take all of the learnings from our time together and put them to good use.

Thank you for the gift of your anger, trust, and stories, I will carry them with me. I know that you will continue to build power and transform our communities, I will be doing my part from wherever I am. I leave you in good hands.  -Cesar

This opportunity is a true recognition of Cesar’s gifts.  We are immensely grateful for all he brought to us, particularly during an extremely challenging year of pandemic.  We will miss him but wish him well!

CLJ will begin a staffing search immediately, more to come on those details shortly.
