The Center for Leadership and Justice (CLJ) is a social justice ministry that has a rich history of partnership with the United Church of Christ. Our work with UCC congregations in Metro-Hartford is a vital part of our identity and effectiveness.
However, three years ago we began broadening our relationship with diverse, multi-faith congregations and allied institutions. We are in the process of launching the Greater Hartford Interfaith Action Alliance (GHIAA) that is comprised of Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Universalist and other allied institutions.
Our partnership with congregations is characterized by various levels of engagement and collaboration with one another. Congregational members serve on our board and on committees. They contribute important financial and in-kind support for our programs. Congregations, through our partnership, receive training and resources on developing social justice efforts, particularly through community organizing.
