CLJ has a number of opportunities for individuals and churches to partner with us to achieve our mission.

Here are a few ways to connect with the organization:

The Freedom School Mission Team helps plan and execute the yearly summer school and enrichment program for north end students in grades k-3. The planning team typically meets every three-four weeks and engages in program planning, fundraising, logistics, recruitment, and staff hiring.

If you are interested in how residents and members of faith-based institutions can plan (play) a dynamic role in developing leaders and solving concrete community issues that impact the quality of life for low-income and marginalized people, consider getting trained in the organizing process. We regularly hold four week training sessions for individuals. If you are a member of a faith-based institution we are available for on-site training that ranges from one time introductory sessions to multiple-week sessions based on interest.

If you have a passion for social justice work and for playing a role in helping organizations fulfill their mission through good governance and leadership, consider serving on a committee of the board and/or the board itself. Committees include governance, strategic planning and program development, finance and investment, and communications.  Meeting frequency and times vary per committee.

Do you have an idea, a passion, a project that will address a local issue at a systemic level but need an organizational home and support? We have a process that allows for the formation of “Mission Teams,” which are ad-hoc projects that fall under the umbrella of CLJ but are primarily led by non-staff members. We have a process in place to make sure the “Mission Teams” are aligned with CLJ’s mission and philosophy, but this is an avenue that allows social justice projects to come to life. If you have an idea, a dream, a passion and the experience and commitment to lead a project let us know and we’ll see if it’s a fit.
