New Project Director for Freedom School

CAC’s 2017 Adventures in the City (AIC) Freedom School at Thirman Milner Elementary School was a success. Enrollment increased by about 33% and 97% of the students maintained or gained in institutional reading levels!

In addition to a dynamic, multi-racial, multi-cultural literacy program, students experienced world dance, music, drill team, art, and other special enrichments each afternoon. They also went on fun trips to Imagine Nation, Flight Trampoline Park, Ebony Horsewomen, a Yard Goats game, and more.

This past September, CAC welcomed Anastasia Damyan as the new Project Director for AIC. A native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Anastasia came to CAC through a partnership with First Church of Simsbury and the United Church of Christ Young Adult Service Committees Network.

In her own words: “I’m deeply excited for this year with CAC, to be in the middle of the world as it should be and the world as is.” You can learn more about Anastasia by visiting: https://cljct.org/about/
