Joshua Serrano, CAC’s newest Community Organizer, is no stranger to those of you who have been following the No More Slumlord’s Campaign. A Hartford native of Puerto Rican descent, Josh was one of the Clay Arsenal Renaissance Apartments (CARA) resident leaders.

“I am excited and grateful for this opportunity,” said Josh, “I’ve seen how community organizing helped me out of a situation that I thought had no solution. Now I’m looking forward to utilizing the tools of organizing to help my community – and others like it – remedy the issues that we face daily.”

Cori Mackey, Executive Director, had the following to say, “We are so excited to have Josh join the CAC team. He has a natural instinct for organizing, tremendous skill at building relationships, and a keen understanding of how to analyze systems and power when it comes to advancing issues of social justice. We are thrilled to welcome him to the team.”

CAC has also proudly welcomed two new interns! Lauren Dube came to CAC through a partnership with First Church, Simsbury, and the United Church of Christ Young Adult Service Communities Network. Lauren will work with the Adventures in the City Freedom School program.

Kendall Comstock is a senior at the University of Connecticut majoring in Urban and Community Studies and Human Rights. She is interning with CAC as a part of UConn’s Urban Semester program.
